IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL NEED THAT YOU FEEL WILL NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT "ROUTINE" APPOINTMENT, WE HAVE A DUTY DOCTOR AVAILABLE EACH DAY TO DEAL WITH "URGENT" PROBLEMS.  THE RECEPTIONIST WILL ASK IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE AN URGENT MEDICAL NEED FOR TODAY AND WILL ALSO ASK FOR A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DIVULGE THIS INFORMATION BUT IT WILL HELP THE DUTY DOCTOR PRIORITISE THE WAITING LIST.

PLEASE USE THE DUTY DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS APPROPRIATELY.  THESE APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT FOR THE USE OF REQUESTING SICK NOTES OR THE COMPLETION OF FORMS, SUCH AS A PRIVATE CLAIM FORM.

THE RECEPTIONIST IS CARRYING OUT THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE GP PARTNERS.  THEY ARE HERE TO HELP AND DEAL WITH YOUR REQUEST IN THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND APPROPRIATE WAY.

THE RECEPTIONIST DOES NOT TRIAGE APPOINTMENTS AND WILL NOT DECLINE ANY PATIENT AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE GP.  THERE ARE LIMITED APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE WITH ALL THE GPS AND THE RECEPTIONIST CAN ONLY BOOK WHAT IS AVAILABLE TO THEM.

ABUSE TOWARDS ANY STAFF MEMBER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Appointments

appointments1 The practice has appointments available to book ahead and on-line. If you ring the surgery 01772 325001 or register to use the Appointments On-Line Service, you can arrange to see a doctor up to 4 weeks in advance. It may not always be possible to see your first choice of doctor.

If your medical need is more urgent and will not wait until the next pre-bookable appointment, then you will be offered an appointment with the Duty Dr that day.  The receptionist will ask for some brief details and this information gets passed through to the Duty Dr who may have to prioritise the surgery, depending on the urgency of the condition.  The appointments with the Duty Dr are an approximate time and you will be informed of this when booking to see the Duty Dr.

Chaperones are available on request. Please enquire at reception when booking your appointment, or with the doctor during your consultation. For the full chaperone policy, please ask reception.

Please note that an appointment is for one problem only. If you need a longer appointment, please inform reception at the time of booking. This is necessary to avoid other patients' appointments being delayed.

IF YOU CANNOT KEEP AN APPOINTMENT PLEASE LET US KNOW.

Booking in at the Surgery

When you arrive for your appointment you can book yourself in using the touch screen in the entrance hall.  This logs your arrival onto the computer system so the person you are seeing knows you have arrived. You can use the screen to book in if you have an appointment with the doctor or practice nurse.  If your appointment is for the treatment room or health visitor you do not need to book in using the screen.
