What is a Publication Scheme?

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI Act) requires public authorities, including GP Practices, to adopt and maintain a publication scheme, the purpose of which is to:

 - specify the classes of information which we have committed to publish

 - say how we will make that information available

 - say whether the information will be free of charge or whether there will be a fee

Improved patient access through implementation of total online triage system - full clinical triage ensures appointments only accessed when clinically necessary.  Aim to deal with all requests/queries within 48 working hours.

Improved patient access through employment of additional healthcare professionals e.g. social prescribers, clinical pharmacists, first contact physiotherapists, mental health practitioners to supplement GP appointments and direct patient to most appropriate clinician

Prescription requests via NHS App and email request to reduce admin and waiting times for patients

Upgrade of premises to introduce new clinical rooms to support aim to increase workforce as above

Practice development plan available on written request to Practice Manager

Class 4 - How we make decisions

Weekly practice meetings with GP Partners, Business Manager & Practice Manager

Monthly Clinical Meetings

Regular Staff Meetings & sharing of information 

Regular patient feedback including friends & family surveys

Meeting minutes and patient feedback surveys available on written request to the Practice Manager

Class 5 - Our policies and procedures

How can this information be obtained:

The practice policies and procedures are maintained on our staff intranet within the staff handbook

These include:

 - staff policies and procedures

 - internal instructions relating to staff and policies relating to the delivery of services

 - equality and diversity policies

 - health & safety policies and procedures

 - complaint procedures

 - records management policies

 - data protection policies including confidentiality

 - policies and procedures for handling requests for information

Access to specific policies is available on written request to the Practice Manager

Cost: £5 per request
