New Patient Registration

Register with St Fillans Medical Centre as a new patient

How to register

Check you live within the boundary area

To access our registration process, first check you are in our catchment area. If you have any questions about your eligibility to join this surgery please contact us.

Live outside our practice area?

You can still apply to register with us. However, out-of-area registration may affect our ability to provide home visits and certain urgent care services at your home address. Once your registration is complete, our team will process your details and let you know if we need any further information and if your out of area registration has been accepted.

We look forward to welcoming you to our practice.

What happens next?

The information you provide on the form is then entered onto our clinical system (EMIS Web) for the purposes of registration.

EMIS then sends a request to NHS England to request that you are registered with the practice and that your medical record is transferred to us electronically. Any manual records held at your previous practice will be sent via Primary Care Support England (PCSE).

On successful registration the form is scanned onto your medical record and the paper copy is destroyed by the practice. Please see our practice privacy notice for more details.

Temporary services

If you are staying in our area for a short period but are not normally resident here, you may be able to register with us as a temporary patient. This can be useful if you are visiting family, staying locally for work or education, or are away from your usual GP practice.

Temporary registration is generally available for stays of more than 24 hours and up to 3 months. If you need medical care while staying locally, please contact our reception team who can advise you on the registration process and whether temporary registration is appropriate for your circumstances.

You do not need to register as a temporary patient if you are only visiting the area for a very short period and need immediately necessary treatment.

Assignment of an accountable GP

When you register with us, you will be allocated an Accountable GP. This GP has overall responsibility for your care and helps make sure your healthcare is coordinated appropriately.

Your Accountable GP may not always be the GP you see. We have a wider team of GPs and healthcare professionals, and you may be offered an appointment with the person best suited to your needs. This helps you receive the right care while ensuring your overall care is well co-ordinated.

If you would prefer to see a specific GP, you can let us know when requesting an appointment and we will always do our best to try and accommodate your preference where possible, depending on availability and the nature of your needs.
