Newsletter: Issue 6

June 2026

As we head into summer, we’d like to thank all our patients for your continued support. In this edition, you’ll find updates from around the practice and health tips to help you stay well this summer.

Practice improvements

We’re delighted that our newly refurbished Nurse Hub is now fully operational following a successful application for an NHSE grant.

The additional clinical rooms are already helping us increase clinical capacity and support the training of future healthcare professionals, including GP Registrars, Student Nurses and Doctors.

These improvements will help us continue providing high-quality care for our growing patient population.

Supporting local charities

We’re proud to be supporting two fantastic charities Rosemere Cancer Foundation and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising activities:

  • Supported Rosemere’s Walk in the Dark
  • Raised over £2,500 for Hearing Dogs

Look out for more fundraising activities throughout the year!

Our clinical team is growing

We’re pleased to welcome back Dr Matthew Theobald to St Fillans as a Salaried GP, after successfully completing his GP Registrar training with us.

Spring covid booster programme

Our Spring Covid Booster campaign has been another success. More than 130 vaccinations have already been delievered, including visits to care homes and housebound patients.

Thank you to everyone who attended their appointment and helped protect themselves and those around them.

Improving our appointment system

Following feedback from both patients and our Patient Participation Group (PPG) we’ve been reviewing our Total Triage system. Patients told us that they would prefer:

  • more certainty around routine appointment times
  • clearer information when waiting for telephone appointments

We’re currently developing changes that aim to improve patient expereince whilst maintaining the flexibility GPs need to provide safe care.

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedbac, it really does help shape our services!

Missed appointments hurt more than your think

Between January and March 2026 144 appointments were missed which equals 40 hours of clinical time.

All of this could have been used to care for someone else

What was missed?

  • 74 GP and nurse appointments: General health checks, follow ups, treatment and more
  • 11 Mental health practitioner appointments: Support and care for mental wellbeing
  • 6 First contsct physio appointments: Assessment, advice and treatment to keep you moving
  • 53 Blood clinic appointments: Routine and essential blood tests for monitoring and care

These appointments are in demand....others have missed out

Please cancel your appointment if you can't make it.

Join your patient participation group

PPGs represent patients and provide feedback on GP practices, helping to drive change.

Our PPG continues to play an important role in helping shape the future of the practice.

If you’d like to become involved, please visit our PPG page.

We’d especially welcome younger patients, working-age adults and families to ensure the group reflects our whole practice population.
