We are a training practice

St Fillans Medical Centre is proud to be a training practice, helping to train and develop the healthcare professionals of the future.

As part of our commitment to education and high-quality patient care, you may meet:

  • ST2 and ST3 GP trainees – qualified doctors who are completing specialist training to become GPs. They work as part of our clinical team and are supported and supervised by our experienced GPs.
  • Medical students – doctors of the future who spend time with the practice to gain experience of general practice and patient care.
  • Student nurses – nurses undertaking clinical placements as part of their professional training.

What does this mean for patients?

From time to time, a medical or nursing student may be present during your consultation. We will always ask for your permission first, and you are completely free to say no. This will not affect your care in any way.

GP trainees are qualified doctors and may see patients independently, with support and supervision available from one of our experienced GPs when required.

Being a training practice helps us contribute to the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals and encourages learning, development and the sharing of up-to-date clinical knowledge across our practice team.

We are very grateful to our patients for supporting the training of future doctors, GPs and nurses.
