Repeat prescriptions

You can order your repeat medication quickly and easily online, using the NHS app or your usual online prescription service.

You can also submit an admin request via our online form, by handing in your repeat slip at the practice (box outside pharmacy) or by speaking to our reception team if you need help.

Please order your medication in good time, ideally at least 5 working days before you need it, to allow time for your request to be processed and your prescription to reach your nominated pharmacy. Please allow at least 72 hours from submitting your request, to process your prescription.

Need a medicine that isn't on your repeat list?

Please submit a request explaining the name of the medicine, the dose, why you need it and, if relevant, who has recommended or previously prescribed it. This allows our clinical team to review your request safely. Please be aware that you may need an appointment or further assessment before we can prescribe it.

Need your medication urgently?

If you have run out of an essential medication or have an urgent need that cannot wait for the usual processing time, please contact the practice and explain the situation. We will assess your request and advise you on the most appropriate option. If the practice is closed, you can contact NHS 111 for advice about urgent medication needs.

For safety, we cannot normally accept repeat prescription requests by telephone. Please do not order medication earlier than necessary or request medication that is not on your repeat list without providing information about why it is needed.

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
